“I said no photos, you little shit!” — angry Michael Angelakos bashes a fan’s camera with his mic at a recent Passion Pit gig.….Ok, so, that’s not exactly what happened. Angelakos is too sweet a guy to be doing that. But his mic did collide with my camera. The collision was very minor and totally accidental, I am sure of it. Now, I wish I could say the same of the tiny girl standing next to me: she suddenly disappeared under Michael’s weight and when she resurfaced a minute later she looked somewhat damaged by that unexpected encounter. Ouch.Flickr set: Passion Pit at Koko, London, 27 Oct 09

Passion Pit at Pure Groove records, London, Feb 09.To give you guys an idea of how important a contribution Pure Groove records shop makes to the London music scene, let me give you a short list of the sort of acts that have been showcased there recently, totally free of charge and in such a low-key manner that getting to the venue 30 minutes before the show would get you quite close to the stage: LadyHawke, Passion Pit, Vetiver, Chairlift, Peter, Bjorn & John (to come), to name just a few. They are also a very good source for new music and I strongly recommend checking out their facebook and myspace updates for new acts.
